10 oz international trade unit

I just bought this 10 oz international trade unit on ebay. I'm having reservations about how easy it would be to resell it if I had to.

I know some people will only buy non generic bars, but what are your thoughts on this bar? Doesn't say much and would like to know more.

Interesting and unusual bar. Including shipping, it looks like you paid roughly spot price for it. One can't complain about that.

Re: 10 oz international trade unit

That is not a bad price for this 10-oz silver bar. Spot price on Friday based on Kitco.com was $14.69. The total cost of this 1-oz bar is $153.00. That is $0.61 over spot silver price per oz. and that is IMO an awesome price overall but especially on ebay where 1-oz silver sells for very high premiums. I am somewhat familiar with International Trade Unit. The Crown Mint makes the International Trade Unit. While it does not have to same brand name recognition as Engelhard or JM, it is still a good silver bar IMO. There is also a 5-oz version of the International Trade unit and there is a 5-oz "Kit Kat" bar that is also made by the Crown Mint. There are also 1-oz International Trade Unit silver rounds that are also made by the Crown Mint. Based on what I know about Crown Mint, they minted silver starting in the 1970's and continued to mint silver rounds and bars though the early 1980's.

I have/had some 5oz bars exactly like that and had no problems when I got rid of some - you should be fine. Nothing about them is any less generic than the next...

Outlaw is the Authority on Old / 70's / Rare Art Bars!!

Oh and NICE BAR-

A collector will buy that no problem, or a local dealer. They'll pay the same they would for a new generic bar.

Hell, you could always sell it to us!!!

Yea I know he is, whenever I see odd 70s art bars I think of that dude on GIM.

Sure thing OutlawJoseyWalesJr, I always need advice.

If I see any interesting art bars around I'll let you know.

Thanks for the vote of confidence AGRO.

However I am still learning about certain 1970's art bars and art bars in general. There might be certain 1970's silver art bars that I will not know anything about. I am very sure that there are other GIMers that know more about '70's silver art bars than I do. I still have a lot to learn IMO but it is very fun learning about certain 1970's art bars and that is what keeps me continuing to collect '70's silver art bars.

I don't know about selling just yet but I'd swap ozs with someone if there interested.
I got 6 Engelhard 1 oz bars and 1 10oz Silvertowne bar, and now (the one I posted here).. also Hamilton Mint "Americas Greatest Events" 19th Amendment, First Radio Broadcast, Freedom of the Press bars.

I'd exchange for coins.. I just prefer them.

\You may want to pick up a copy of Archie Kidds guide book to silver art bars, not cheap but a must for art bar holders of any number.

I am familiar with this guide. I will eventually plan to find and purchase the 5th edition of the guide book called "An Indexed Guide Book of Silver Art Bars" by Archie Kidd. You are right about it not being cheap. The 5th edition of this guide book was published in 1991. The last time I saw the 5th edition of this guide was on ebay for $299. If I had the 5th edition of this guide book, I would know a lot more about 1970's 1-oz silver art bars than I do now.

I do, however, have the 6th edition of this guide book. The 6th edition does have some 1970's silver art bar information in it but this is information that was not included in the 5th edition. The 6th edition of this guide book by Archie Kidd also has silver art bars that were minted during the '80's in addition to the "modern" silver art bars. The 6th edition was came out in 2008. The 6th edition of this book still helps me because I have some "modern" 1-oz silver art bars and some 1980's silver art bars and the 6th edition guide has information on those 1-oz silver art bars.

The 5th edition of the silver art bar guide is the one that I really want because it has all of the information on all of the 1970's silver art bars that I have in my collection.

EDIT: Thanks for the advice about buying this silver art bar guide. I will plan to buy the 5th edition of this silver art bar guide eventually.

Josey, just an FYI, they came out with an updated 5th edition in 2007 and the 6th edition is an update to the older ones, I'm fortunate to have both and also autographed by Archie Kidd.

Ok. Thanks for the FYI. I will have to check this out on the 2007 updated 5th edition. How much is the updated 5th edition 2007 version? Does this updated 5th edition have pictures of the silver art bars in it?

EDIT: Since you have that updated 5th edition of this guide, I might need your help to identify any 1970's 1-oz silver art bars that I buy in the future that I am not able to identify or research on the Internet.
